The elevator installation process is a systematic undertaking that encompasses multiple stages, from preliminary preparation to final acceptance.

  Main Process of Elevator Installation

  Preliminary preparation and approval

Demand Determination and Selection: Based on factors such as the building’s intended use, floor height, and pedestrian traffic, determine the elevator type, specifications, and supplier.

Handle approval procedures: Notify the special equipment safety supervision and administration department of the elevator installation and apply for an installation permit. For retrofitting elevators in existing buildings, it is also necessary to convene a meeting of property owners, obtain the consent of more than two-thirds of the owners, and apply for relevant permits from departments such as planning, fire protection, and housing and urban-rural development.

Technical briefing and site preparation: The installation contractor shall conduct a technical briefing with the design and construction units to clarify the construction plan. At the same time, the civil works for the hoistway, machine room, and pit shall be completed, ensuring that their dimensions and verticality meet the installation requirements.

  Construction and Installation Phase

Equipment installation within the hoistway: includes erecting scaffolding, installing guide rails and rail supports, and installing floor landing thresholds.

Rack room equipment installation: Install core equipment such as the traction machine (main unit), control cabinet, speed governor, and safety gear.

Car Assembly and Counterweight Installation: Install the car frame, car walls, and car doors, and then install the counterweight assembly.

Electrical system installation: Install power cables, control cables, signal cables, and other wiring in accordance with specifications, ensuring that wires are kept separate and free of splices.

Installation of other components: Install the compensation chain (required when the lifting height exceeds 30 m), the accompanying cable, the buffer, and others.

  Debugging and Testing

Single-unit debugging: Conduct individual functional tests on components such as the main unit, control cabinet, and door system.

Overall machine commissioning: Conduct comprehensive performance tests on elevator operation, door opening and closing, leveling accuracy, safety devices, and other aspects.

Supervisory Inspection: A statutory supervisory inspection conducted by a special equipment inspection agency, with a primary focus on examining safety performance and operational reliability.

Completion Acceptance: After passing inspection, the installation unit submits an acceptance application to the relevant authorities and obtains the acceptance qualification report.

  Commissioning and Post-Operation Management

Apply for registration: Submit an application to the special equipment safety supervision and administration department for the “Elevator Use Registration Certificate.”

Integrate into the emergency platform: Enter elevator information into the emergency response platform and post emergency response signage.

Identify the maintenance and servicing unit: Sign a maintenance contract, and have the qualified unit perform regular maintenance and servicing.

Archiving of Documents: Transfer all technical documents related to elevator installation, inspection, acceptance, and other relevant procedures to the user unit for archiving.
